Anthony Taylor rulings that infuriated Chelsea fans as Referee demoted following Wolves v Newcastle

A lot of Chelsea fans will be excited following the announcement of the demotion of Anthony Taylor to the English Championship. Anthony Taylor is undoubtedly one of Chelsea's worst Premier League nightmares, as they are often at the receiving end of his decisions.

The relegation decision was made after the 45-year-old controversially awarded Newcastle United a spot kick after Hwang Hee-chan appeared to have fouled Fabian Schar in the 18-yard box.

It seemed like Chelsea fans had enough of Anthony Taylor's allegedly poor officiating after a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge against Spurs in 2022, as they believed that both of Tottenham's goals shouldn't have stood, which propelled them to file a petition against the English referee.

Gary O'Neil Warns Referees to be Careful While Officiating Wolves Following Anthony Taylor's Relegation.



Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Gary O'Neil advised referees to be cautious when refereeing for Wolves after Taylor's demotion to the EFL. Despite Hwang Hee-chan's goal, which earned Wolves a dramatic draw with Newcastle, the 40-year-old labeled the penalty decision "scandalous."

He told Sky Sports: "I saw the numbers in the review they do on Tuesday which was 5-0 in favour of a penalty not being given on-field, and 4-1 in favour of it not being overturned by VAR."



Speaking further, he added:

"I think Anthony Taylor's doing the Championship game this weekend - that's three referees who've been relegated on the back of refereeing us, so you need to be careful when you referee Wolves because you could end up getting relegated the following week.''

''That's Man Utd, Luton and Wolves now. I haven't received an apology and I don't want one. They're not going to help, but hopefully the level improves."

Following the decision by PGMOL to demote Anthony Taylor to the second tier of English football, he will not be refereeing any games in the Premier League this weekend.

Instead, he will be officiating the Championship match between Preston and Coventry today. This will be the first time he will officiate in the Championship since 2019. He will, however, still serve as the fourth official for Luton vs. Liverpool on Sunday.
