Arsenal make contact with Everton for midfielder
Arsenal have made contact with Everton over the potential transfer of midfielder Amadou Onana this month.
The Gunners are currently in a difficult position in the Premier League title race after back-to-back derby losses.
The club were one point ahead at the top at Christmas, but are now trailing league leaders Liverpool by five points.
They need to reinforce their midfield in the current transfer window and reports claim that they want to land Onana.
The Belgian has been on the Gunners' radar for some time and they tried to sign him at the beginning of last year too.
The Toffees clearly mentioned that he was not for sale amid their relegation battle and the scenario could be the same.
Sean Dyche's side may resist the prospect of parting ways with Onana as they are just one point ahead of the drop zone.
Losing a defensive midfielder of his calibre could put them at risk of being relegated from the top-flight for the first time in 70 years.
