Chelsea defender out for rest of the season with knee injury
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that Wesley Fofana is unlikely to return to first-team action before the end of the season.
The Frenchman had an injury-plagued debut campaign with the Blues and things have gone worse for him during his second year at the club.
Fofana picked up a serious knee injury during pre-season and he has yet to recover from the setback. Pochettino has now provided disappointing news.
The Argentine said that he does not think the former Leicester City star will be back on the playing field before the current campaign concludes.
He said: "I don’t think we will see him back before the end of this season, unfortunately. You never know, of course. But it looks like this now."
The Blues are currently 11th in the league standings with 35 points. They have a game in hand over the teams above them in the table.
The club still have a realistic chance of qualifying for Europe via the league, but they need to build a winning streak in order to do so.
