Ian Maatsen makes Chelsea transfer decision

Chelsea defender Ian Maatsen has made the decision to join Borussia Dortmund on a permanent basis this summer.

The Blues graduate made the move to Dortmund on loan in January and he has been impressive with two goals and two assists.

There is no option to buy as part of the deal, but Dortmund still have an advantage due to his €35m release clause at Chelsea.

Maatsen has already given the green light for a permanent transfer and Dortmund are likely to trigger the buy-out clause soon.

The Dutchman spent last season on loan with Burnley in the Championship and it was anticipated that he could break into the Blues' plans.

However, manager Mauricio Pochettino chose to ignore him. He played Levi Colwill at left-back when Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella were injured.

There were no surprises that Maatsen left on loan to Dortmund in January. He is now ready to turn his move into a permanent one this summer.
