Arsenal made shock loan move for Chelsea flop
Arsenal made a shock loan move for Chelsea flop Alvaro Morata before the transfer deadline yesterday, according to The Athletic.
The Gunners wanted to sign a new striker during the winter transfer window, but they could not secure an agreement for anyone.
Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins was an option in the final week, but the Midlands outfit made it clear that he was not for sale after Jhon Duran's exit.
The Athletic now claim that the Gunners made contact with the agents of Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia over a summer move.
In the process, the London giants also enquired over the availability of AC Milan's Morata as he is represented by the same agency as Garcia.
However, they were not fully convincing in their approach which meant that Morata chose to join Galatasaray on a temporary basis.
Arsenal had other striking options to consider, but they were happy to wait until the summer to secure a marquee acquisition.
