Newcastle make approach for PSV star Johan Bakayoko
Newcastle United have opened talks with PSV Eindhoven with regard to the signing of Belgian international winger Johan Bakayoko, the Toon Army are said to be ready to pay the 50 million euro price quoted by the Eredivisie side. Bakayoko, capped 18 times by his country, is desperate for a move to the Premier League.
Bakayoko has spent all of his professional career with PSV, having moved to the club in 2019 as a youth player from Anderlecht. The 22-year-old Overijse-born forward has two years remaining on his current deal and is considered one of the Dutch top flight's best up and coming players. Whilst Newcastle are known to be happy with their attacking talent, with the likes of Harvey Barnes and Anthony Gordon in their squad, manager Eddie Howe wants to add at least one attacker to his squad ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Real Madrid had also been monitoring Bakayoko's performances in recent months, but have apparently pulled out of a transfer move for the player.
Newcastle United have been given a transfer fund of £115 million to spend on new players this summer, with Bakayoko the top priority.
