Man Utd poised to miss out on another midfielder

Manchester United are poised to miss out on signing another midfielder during the ongoing summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have had a quiet summer thus far, and they have already missed out on three high-profile midfield signings.

The club were first interested in landing Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest, but Manchester City won the race for him.

West Ham United's Mateus Fernandes and Newcastle United's Sandro Tonali were targets, but they have both joined Tottenham Hotspur.

It was recently claimed that United could spend big on Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni, with Los Blancos likely to sign Enzo Fernandez.

However, that is no longer a possibility. Madrid have categorically ruled out any form of interest in landing the Chelsea man this summer.

Hence, that will also close the door on Tchouameni heading for the exit door, given Madrid are not planning to find a replacement for him.

United now need to look elsewhere for a second midfield signing. They have already reached a verbal agreement to land Atalanta's Ederson.
