West Ham United secure their fifth summer signing
West Ham United have confirmed their fifth capture of the summer transfer window with Andriy Yarmolenko having arrived from Borussia Dortmund on a four-year contract.
The Hammers have been busy this summer with the signings of Ryan Fredericks, Issa Diop, Lukasz Fabianski and Jack Wilshere and they have now officially announced the arrival of Yarmolenko for a fee of around £17.5m.
Yarmolenko, who has previously been linked with the likes of Everton and Liverpool, only joined Dortmund last summer but he could not receive regular gametime with just 19 starts across all competitions.
The Hammers are presently in their pre-season training camp in Switzerland and Yarmolenko is expected to link up with his new teammates and manager Manuel Pellegrini at a short notice.
West Ham United have already spent £47m on five recruits this summer and there could be further additions in the coming weeks with Felipe Anderson among the prime targets.
The Brazilian midfielder is currently valued at £40m by Lazio and the Hammers are yet to make a fresh bid after their initial offer £35m plus add-ons was turned down.
