Preview: Chelsea vs Everton

Preview: Chelsea vs Everton

11 November 2007 - 09:56

Chelsea are unbeaten at Stamford Bridge in over 69 matches, and are looking for their fiftieth league win over Everton. The Toffees travel full of confidence to London though, after their 2-0 win over Nurnberg in mid-week.

  • Arsenal leading the race to sign 22yo Dutch striker
  • Man Utd & Arsenal enter race to sign Italian defender

  • Chelsea have won eight of 11 league and cup games under Avram Grant, and are really beginning to display the promised attacking football. Everton though are no push overs, and have won their last five matches.

Ashley Cole has returned from injury for the London giants, but Cech will be out for three weeks and Ferreira remains out of action. However, John Terry is unlikely to make an appearance.

    Avram: Terry can't play

"John Terry likes to train and to play every day, 24 hours a day, but he knows his situation. He is not fit at the moment.

"In two weeks he will be fit and we need to take care of him because he always risks his body for Chelsea and for the national team.

"He has had a lot of injuries. This will be the last, I hope."

Everton, on the other hand, have Mikel Arteta (groin), Leighton Baines (ankle), James Vaughan (thigh) and Alan Stubbs (hamstring) all doubtful whilst Andy Johnson will definitely be out of action.

    Moyes: we'll be confident

"We have had a lot of games, done very well and we intend to try to do the same at Chelsea.

"We are confident, but then so must Chelsea be. They have a fantastic home record and a new manager who seems to have got them playing as well as ever.

"They must think they can win the Premier League again, and that makes them very difficult animals to handle."

    Eyefootball Premiership Predictor

    Chelsea 1-0 Everton

This Everton side are good - but they're not ready yet to compete with the best the Premiership has to offer. With the attacking prowess of Drogba seemingly happy again, you can't see Everton getting any points in this encounter.

    Prediction: 1-0 to Chelsea

    Goalscorer: Didier Drogba
