Man Utd slip to surprise West Brom defeat

28 September 2013 - 17:25

Manchester United's miserable start under David Moyes continued as the Reds slumped to a 2-1 defeat to Steve Clarke's West Brom. Goals from Morgan Amalfitano and substitute Saido Berahino ensured the victory.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • Prior to kick off many were concerned that David Moyes decided to choose Javier Hernandez ahead of the returning Robin van Persie.

Amalfitano has scored two goals in two games for WBA and continued his fine form with a stunning strike today. He opened the scoring after picking up the ball from the halfway line, beating the midfield and then nutmegging Rio Ferdinand before chipping over the advancing David De Gea.

It wouldn't take long for United to be back on level terms, just four minutes, as Wayne Rooney struck from a free kick to level the score.

However it would be WBA's night as promising youngster Saido Berahino struck left footed through Rio Ferdinand's legs past David De Gea to wrap up the game. The result leaves Man Utd in 12th place with just 7 points after 6 games.
