Deeney insists Richarlison did not dive versus Arsenal

Troy Deeney mocks Arsenal star after comeback win

15 October 2017 - 07:33

Watford striker Troy Deeney had a dig on former teammate Hector Bellerin, following the Hornets' Premier League triumph over Arsenal on Saturday.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Gunners were cruising towards a 1-0 victory at Vicarage Road before Bellerin conceded a penalty for a foul on Richarlison.

Things only went worse for the north London club as Tom Cleverley bagged a winner in injury time to condemn Arsene Wenger's side to their third away defeat in four attempts this term.

Speaking on BT Sport, Deeney mocked Bellerin, who had a temporary stint at Watford, saying: "Yeah, because his long hair is in the way, he can’t see what he’s doing."

"I know Hector, he’s a good pal of mine, but that’s a penalty. I’m sure if that was the other way around he would be screaming for a penalty."

The result sees Watford move into the Champions League places in fourth spot with 15 points, while Arsenal are two points behind them in sixth position.

Both Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez missed the game with fatigue from their international exploits, but they could feature in the Europa League clash against Red Star Belgrade in midweek.

Meanwhile, Danny Welbeck and Laurent Koscielny sustained hamstring injuries at Watford, and the Gunners find themselves short in the defensive department with Shkodran Mustafi also sidelined with a thigh problem.
