Arsenal mutually agreed to terminate the contract of defender Omar Rekik on transfer deadline day, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The 22-year-old signed for the Gunners from Hertha's academy three years ago, but he did not make a single competitive appearance.
After four loan stints with three different clubs, the club have eventually parted ways with him. He has been released as a free agent.
The decision was made before the 11pm deadline last night such that he can find a new club. Rekik reportedly has interest from the Championship.
Arsenal had a busy final day in the transfer window. Aside from Rekik, they sold Eddie Nketiah and Aaron Ramsdale to Crystal Palace and Southampton.
Reiss Nelson was also loaned out to Fulham in the dying stages. The club also made meaningful signings in the form of Neto and Raheem Sterling on year-long loans.
Neto will provide cover for David Raya as the second-choice goalkeeper while Sterling could do the same for Bukayo Saka on the right wing.
