Tottenham rule out Tevez move

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has ruled a move for Carlos Tevez, with concerns over the Argentine's hefty Manchester City salary, believed to be in the region of £200,000 per week.

Spurs' manager Redknapp is a big fan of the striker, and had been in lengthy discussions with club chairman Daniel Levy regarding a transfer for Tevez.

Man City were only interested in a permanent transfer and subsequently Tottenham were forced out of a transfer move for the player. AC Milan appear to be in pole position to sign the want away frontman, who has fallen out with manager Roberto Mancini after refusing to come off the bench against Bayern Munich in a Champions League qualifier in September.

Redknapp currently has Emmanuel Adebayor - ironically on loan from City - and Jermain Defoe in his attacking ranks, but it appears that Defoe could quit White Hart Lane soon and Spurs are on the look out for attacking talent.

Redknapp said: "I like him. He is a great player. He is fantastic - a battler, a real talent - but we are not going to be able to get him. It's not happening. We are not pursuing it.

"The chairman won't put the club in trouble for one player. His wages would be astronomical."
