Arsenal manager pulls out of January sales
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has decided against making a move for a full back this month; despite a growing injury crisis at the Emirates. Arsenal expect Thomas Vermaelen and Bacary Sagna to return from injury this month.
There had been some suggestion that Arsenal would sign a backup defender in January, with Wayne Bridge of Man City and Taye Taiwo of AC Milan both linked with a two month loan to the Gunners.
"You sometimes find players who have not been playing at their clubs, so decide they will leave in January," Wenger said.
"They are already less committed to the cause. Now you have a quick and easy way out.
'Sometimes, if a player hasn't played - by the time they [the new signings] are fit - you have your own injured players back. Or you find a young player somewhere who can take three or four months to adjust to the Premier League. If we can get Thomas Vermaelen back next week, we have enough players available."
