Arsenal prepare transfer deadline day swoop for Mesut Ozil

Arsenal have flown club representatives to Spain to discuss a transfer for Mesut Ozil. The Germany international could be set for a surprise Real Madrid exit amidst continued talk of a transfer to Man Utd or Arsenal.

The Gunners have yet to spend any money on new players this summer, with Arsene Wenger known to favour doing most of his business on the transfer deadline day. The arrivals of Yaya Sanogo and Mathieu Flamini remain Arsenal's only business in the transfer market so far.

Frustrated Arsenal fans are hopeful that Arsene Wenger will bankroll moves for at least one major player on transfer deadline day and reports today suggest Mesut Ozil will be the primary target for the Frenchman.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has not been given the assurances he deems necessary by Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, with the German international seeking assurance that he will be a first team regular this season.

Arsenal have endured a difficult early season campaign so far with notable injuries to the likes of Mikel Arteta leaving them short in the midfield department. Arsenal are believed to have tabled a bid of 40 million Euros (approximately £34 million) for the German.

Real Madrid are seriously considering all offers for their players as they look to bring in money after spending a massive £83.5 million on Gareth Bale yesterday.
