Sunderland, Everton in hunt for Benteke

Sunderland, Everton prepared to match Benteke's £30m valuation

Sunderland have joined Everton in the chase to sign Liverpool flop Christian Benteke this summer. The 25-year-old joined the Reds from Aston Villa last year.

The Belgian international is currently the Reds' fourth-choice striker behind the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Danny Ings.

According to The Mail, David Moyes is willing to compete with former club Everton as he bids to secure the services of Benteke in the transfer window.

The Black Cats were solely dependent on Jermaine Defoe for goals in the back end of last season, and this has urged them to bring in a powerful attacker, who could compliment the England international.

On the hand, Ronald Koeman's side have set sights on the Belgian forward with Romelu Lukaku likely to leave Goodison Park before the end of the month.

Benteke was largely used as a super-sub upon Jurgen Klopp's appointment last season.
