Pogba set to train today

Paul Pogba will train with his Manchester United team mates today for the first time since his world record breaking move from Juventus.

The 23-year-old midfielder yesterday completed his £89 million move from Juventus to United, with the Premier League club announcing the deal via social media in the early hours of the morning.

In what has been the dominant transfer saga of the summer, United had been linked with a potentially record breaking move for Pogba since June.

Initially, the move seemed unlikely, with Juventus refusing to sell, and with Real Madrid also lurking in the wings should the player become available.

But ultimately United's monumental offer forced the Italian champions' hand, while also pricing out Real Madrid in the race for Pogba's signature.

Pogba previously played for United, having joined their academy in 2009. But the Frenchman grew frustrated at the lack of first team opportunities he was being afforded by manager Sir Alex Ferguson and left to join Juventus when his contract expired in 2012.

The Red Devils have had to smash the transfer record in order to bring the talented midfielder back to Old Trafford, with the £89 million fee eclipsing Gareth Bales record-setting £85.3 million move from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid in 2013.

Pogba became United's fourth summer signing after the arrivals of Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
