Liverpool's Sturridge a realistic target for West Ham, Stoke and Sunderland
Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge could be a realistic transfer target for a host of Premier League clubs, with West Ham United, Stoke City and Sunderland all considering a move for the England international, according to reports in Italy.
Calciomercato is reporting that Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is wanted by West Ham United, Stoke City and Sunderland, and the former Chelsea and Manchester City player’s continual injury issues could mean that the Reds are willing to sell the 27-year-old.
Sturridge has suffered a string of injury issues throughout his time at Anfield and, although he remains one of the Merseysiders’ best players when fit, Liverpool could consider selling the player due to the unpredictability and unreliability of his fitness.
West Ham were on the hunt for a top class striker all summer, and ended up signing Simone Zaza on loan from Juventus. But the Hammers have reportedly been unimpressed with the Italian so far, and are even considering ending his loan agreement early. The London Stadium club would surely be interested in Sturridge if he were to become available.
Stoke signed Wilfried Bony on loan from Manchester City, but Sturridge would represent a big step up in quality for the struggling Potters.
And David Moyes’s Sunferland remain relient on veteran striker Jermain Defoe’s goals, so the addition of a younger top drawer striker such as Sturridge would be welcome at the Stadium of Light.
Liverpool signed Sturridge for £12 million in 2012, and he has scored 55 goals in 98 games for the club.
