Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is said to be a big admirer of 20-year-old FC Porto striker Andre Silva, according to reports in Portugal.

Portuguese sports newspaper A Bola is reporting that Arsenal manager Arsenal Wenger is a ‘huge admirer’ of Paortuguese starlet Andre Silva.

The 20-year-old striker has burst onto the scenes with FC Porto this season, scoring six goals and laying on three assists in 11 appearances.

And the young prodigy further enhanced his blossoming reputation with a hat trick for Portugal against the Faroe Islands during the international break.

Arsenal face stiff competition for the striker as Italian champions Juventus and La Liga big hitters Atletico Madrid are both credited with a strong interest in Silva.

Silva has been with Porto since 2011 and made his first team debut last season. But this campaign has seen his development take a huge leap, drawing interest from several of the continent’s top sides.

Arsenal reportedly tried to sign Gonzalo Higuain during the summer from Napoli in a deal which would have seen French striker Olivier Giroud move in the other direction. But Napoli refused the offer and Juventus ended up snatching up the Argentinian hit man be activating his €90 million release clause.

The Gunners then turned their attention to Alexandre Lacazette, but were unwilling to meet Lyon’s €60 million asking price.

They instead signed Spanish forward Lucas Perez from Deportivo la Coruna for £17 million.
