Aguero Nets Again Despite Uncertain Future
Sergio Aguero scored again for Manchester City on Sunday, as he helped his team beat struggling Sunderland 2-0 at the Stadium of Light. City are now eight points behind leaders Chelsea, who travel to West Ham on Monday.
Aguero admitted recently that his future at the Etihad was unclear, as questions were asked as to whether he fitted in with Guardiola's system of playing, followed by his place in the starting lineup being taken by January arrival Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian picked up a metatarsal injury, which allowed Aguero an opportunity to prove his worth to Guardiola's side. So far, it has been an opportunity that he has not wasted, with today's goal being Aguero's fifth goal in three games.
Aguero gave City the lead shortly before the break against Sunderland, as he finished off a cross from Raheem Sterling, at the end of a slick counter attack. Leroy Sane secured the win in the second half, moving City back up to third in the Premier League.
Manchester City have now won four league games in a row, as they look to launch a late challenge with Chelsea for the league, along with the hunt for a trophy in the FA Cup and Champions League.
