Olivier Giroud's future linked to Wenger - Agent
France international Olivier Giroud is likely to decide on his Arsenal future depending on whether manager Arsene Wenger stays or not next season, agent Michael Manuello has revealed.
Wenger, 67, has received calls to step down over the past couple of months, but he is still said to have a fresh two-year extension on the table.
The long-standing manager has apparently opted to stall on a new deal until the end of the season, and Giroud has been one of them who has spoken in support of the boss.
French club Marseille were recently linked with a move for Giroud amid the uncertainty over his Gunners future, but Manuello has put cold water on the speculation.
"There was talk that Olivier was in contact with Rudi Garcia. I said that that was false. There is no contact between Marseille and us. At this point, there is no contact," he told FootMercato.
He also insisted that his client is committed to achieving a top-four finish with Arsenal this season, and his future could be influenced by Wenger's contractual status.
He added: "Olivier wants to help his team qualify for the Champions League. When we know exactly what Arsene Wenger is doing, we will ask ourselves questions. We will think about what is possible and what is not possible,"
Giroud has made just nine league starts over the course of the season with Wenger opting to offer the likes of Alexis Sanchez and the recently fit Danny Welbeck a run in the centre-forward role.
He currently has more than three years on his existing deal after having inked a new contract alongside compatriots Laurent Koscielny and Francis Coquelin earlier in the year.
