Chelsea plan double raid on AS Roma

Nainggolan, Rudiger on Blues shortlist

Premier League leaders Chelsea are planning a double swoop on Italian side AS Roma with Radja Nainggolan and Antonio Rudiger at the top of their transfer shortlist.

Blues boss Antonio Conte had pursued the services of the Roma pairing last summer, but unfortunately, a deal could not be struck with either player.

Rudiger has been the subject of a £24m bid from the Blues during the previous summer transfer window, but an anterior cruciate injury prior to Euro 2016 cooled their interest in the central defender.

On the other hand, the Blues were also keen on Nainggolan after having made multiple attempts to sign him, but the Belgian opted to stay put with the Giallorossi.

According to The Sun, Conte has his eye on a fresh attempt for the Serie A duo with a £70m sum likely to be sufficient to convince Roma into a sale.

Nainggolan has recently refused to rule out a move to a fresh club while Rudiger is likely to attract suitors after having successfully recovered from a long-term injury.
