Wenger will have a huge purse to spend on potential signings

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been backed with a sizeable transfer kitty for the summer as he looks to turn his squad into genuine title challengers next season.

The Gunners have often deceived in the title race with the club failing to register valuable wins over their direct competitors.

As a result, the north London club have had to regularly contend with Champions League football until last season where they finished a lowly fifth under the French head coach.

According to The Mail, the long-standing manager will have a £150m kitty as his disposal this summer as he aims to make a couple of marquee signings to his squad.

The attacking department appears to be the main focus for the 67-year-old with Riyad Mahrez and Kylian Mbappe among the top names on his shortlist.

Meanwhile, the club are also looking at the prospect of deals for Kingsley Coman and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, both of whom could leave their respective clubs in the Bundesliga this summer.

Arsenal have already pursued the signature of Schalke's Sead Kolasinac on a Bosman, and they appear to be closing in on a second signing after having tabled a fee for KAS Eupen forward Henry Onyekuru.
