Martial likely to retain his place in the first-team

Jose Mourinho's undefeated side will visit St. Mary's on Saturday as they look to continue their blistering form in the Premier League. Southampton have started rather poorly but are on the back of a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Predicted formation (4-2-3-1):

David de Gea will reclaim his spot back from Sergio Romero who played in United's 4-1 win over Burton Albion in the League Cup.

Despite Luke Shaw making his first appearance of the season against Burton, he is unlikely to start against Southampton. As such, Ashley Young is expected to retain his spot at left-back. Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, and Antonio Valencia are also expected to reclaim their first team spots from Victor Lindelof, Chris Smalling and Matteo Darmian respectively.

Paul Pogba's return date is still unknown and Mourinho has reportedly ordered him to go on holiday to accelerate his recovery time. As such, Matic and Fellaini will likely start as they look to combat the strength of Oriol Romeu.

Up-front, Romelu Lukaku will almost definitely start, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan playing behind him. Despite Lingard, Martial, and Rashford all impressing against Burton mid-week, Mata, and the aforementioned Martial will likely start on the wings.

Lingard has been used as an impact substitute in the league to good effect while Rashford will be more effective against a more open Southampton defence towards the end of the game. Southampton have recorded an impressive three clean sheets in five games.

Manchester United (4-2-3-1): De Gea, Valencia, Bailly, Jones, Young, Matic, Fellaini, Martial, Mkhitaryan, Mata, Lukaku
