Predicted Manchester United lineup (4-2-3-1) vs CSKA Moscow, Herrera and Martial start

How United could lineup at CSKA

Manchester United will face off against CSKA Moscow in the second Champions League group stage game on Wednesday night. The Red Devils are unbeaten since their European Super Cup defeat to Real Madrid, but a trip to Moscow is always tricky due to the long-distance travel.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Lineup:

Spain international David de Gea has started in the club's Premier League and Champions League games, and he is likely to hold onto his number one role ahead of Sergio Romero.

The backline is likely to see different faces with Antonio Valencia and Phil Jones not part of the travelling squad. Ashley Young could make an appearance at right-back with Daley Blind possibly getting the nod over Matteo Darmian at left-back due to his limited gametime. The central defensive duties could be allotted to Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof, both of whom started the opener against Basel.

Marouane Fellaini and Paul Pogba are missing for the Moscow trip with the latter still a long-term casualty. Fellaini sustained an ankle knock versus Southampton, and he has been given a week's rest as many presume. In this case, Ander Herrera is likely to accompany Nemanja Matic at the heart of the midfield with Michael Carrick also not in the travelling party.

Anthony Martial got the pick over Marcus Rashford on the left wing against Basel, and Mourinho could be tempted to go the same way after the Frenchman excelled in the recent League Cup win over Burton Albion. The number 10 and right wing role could go to the established men with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata having played in the positions since the start of the campaign. Romelu Lukaku is certain to lead the line at the VEB Arena, and he is likely to use his physical attributes to become a menace to the CSKA backline.
