Chelsea defender keen on bagging starting role under Sarri
Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has highlighted his ambition to secure a regular starting role under Maurizio Sarri this season.
The Denmark international made his breakthrough under ex-boss Antonio Conte last term and he went on to make 40 appearances across all competitions.
Speaking to Evening Standard, Christensen said that he would like to secure a more prominent role under Sarri after being rested due to fatigue during the backend of last season.
"That [a starting spot] is one of the goals. I want to build on last season and get better. There's not much to say [about that] because that's where you want to be. I want to play, hopefully, the whole season again," he said.
Aside from Christensen, the likes of David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger have competed for a role in central defence during pre-season and it will be interesting to see whether the Dane is preferred ahead of one of the duo for the Premier League opener against Huddersfield Town.
