Chelsea boss hints at Mateo Kovacic debut vs Arsenal
Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has hinted that Mateo Kovacic could make his Premier League debut against Arsenal this weekend, although he is unlikely to start the Croatian from the off.
The World Cup finalist joined the Blues on a season-long loan as part of the agreement which saw Thibaut Courtois head to Real Madrid but he was not picked for the season opener due to his lack of fitness.
Speaking ahead of the Arsenal game, Sarri confirmed that Kovacic could feature in the London derby, although his participation may be restricted to a maximum of half an hour.
"I think Mateo will be very useful for us. At this moment he has to work, he is not ready for 90 minutes but maybe tomorrow for the last 30 minutes. I ask a lot for him, because for me is a very good player and in my opinion he can improve more," he said, via Evening Standard.
Meanwhile, Hazard is likely to be involved from the off after playing a cameo role during the 3-0 triumph over Huddersfield Town. The Belgian's future has constantly been under focus over the past few weeks but Sarri has indicated that the attacker won't be leaving the Blues anytime soon.
