Arsenal board to back Unai Emery over Mesut Ozil decision
Arsenal board are expected to back manager Unai Emery if he decides to drop midfielder Mesut Ozil from the starting lineup for the upcoming Premier League games.
The Germany international was facing the risk of being dropped to the bench for the West Ham United visit last weekend but he was eventually excluded from the matchday squad through an illness.
The 29-year-old is likely to return to contention for the trip to Cardiff City on Sunday but according to The Telegraph, his position in the starting lineup appears far from certain.
As per the publication, Emery wants Ozil to prove his worth to make the starting lineup and as such, he may prefer the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi ahead of him in the pecking order.
Alexandre Lacazette has been another who has gone through a similar treatment under Emery but he could feature from the off versus Cardiff after changing the dynamics of the game versus the Hammers.
