Arsenal boss reacts to Petr Cech's strong showing versus Everton

Petr Cech news

Emery pleased with Cech's showing

Arsenal manager Unai Emery was delighted with the efforts of goalkeeper Petr Cech, who made a number of crucial interceptions during the club's 2-0 Premier League triumph over Everton.

The 36-year-old's position between the sticks has been called into question over the past weeks but he produced a vintage performance on Sunday afternoon to keep the Toffees at bay.

Cech made two key one-on-one saves against Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Theo Walcott during the first period and he later intercepted Lucas Digne's free-kick before deflecting Richarlison's fizzling shot over the bar.

Ultimately, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang found the scoresheet to register the Gunners' fourth straight league win of the season and following the game, Emery has pleased with Cech's showing.

"Today he showed us he’s performing very well and continuing with the right work and spirit everyday. It’s the same for the other goalkeepers," he is quoted as saying by Evening Standard.

Meanwhile, Emery added that summer signing Berno Leno may have to wait much longer before making his Premier League debut for the club and highlighted that Cech remains a very important player.
