Arsenal facing injury crisis ahead of Liverpool clash
Arsenal are facing a potential injury crisis in the full-back positions with first-choice defenders Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal doubtful for the Premier League meeting against Liverpool.
Monreal has been sidelined with a hamstring problem since the international break and this recently saw Granit Xhaka fill in for him at left-back with Sead Kolasinac (hamstring) and Ainsley Maitland-Niles (knee) also in the treatment room.
However, according to The Mirror, Emery now faces a potential concern on the opposite end of the central defence with Hector Bellerin doubtful with a thigh problem sustained in the recent clash versus Crystal Palace.
Bellerin could only last until half time of the recent derby against the Eagles and he was thereafter replaced by Stephan Lichtsteiner, who could not make much of an impact going forward.
Should there be no positive news, Lichtsteiner and Xhaka appear certain to retain their positions in defence and this does not make for good reading with Liverpool possessing an in-form attack which could take full advantage of the situation.
Prior to that, the Gunners have the opportunity to extend a 12-match unbeaten run when they entertain Blackpool in the League Cup fourth round on Wednesday night.
