Jose Mourinho insists he did not want the Real Madrid job

Former Manchester United and Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has indicated that he was never interested in returning to management with former club Real Madrid.

Mourinho was touted as one of the favourites to replace the struggling Santiago Solari at the Bernabeu before Los Blancos made the surprise decision to reappoint Zinedine Zidane at the helm.

Speaking after the announcement, Mourinho clarified that he never had the thought of rejoining the European champions despite talking up the move earlier in the month.

"It is a reason of pride when a club where you worked before wanted you to come back. The only moment where I had this feeling was with Chelsea, not with Real Madrid," he told beIN Sports.

Meanwhile, a separate report from The Sun has claimed that Mourinho could return to management next season with Paris Saint-Germain a possible destination.

The French giants have been associated with the manager since his time at former club Manchester United and they could make an approach with the future of Thomas Tuchel being assessed.
