Preview: Newcastle vs Fulham

Preview: Newcastle vs Fulham

A relegation battle between two sides who have had a shocking season in the Premiership. Kevin Keegan is still desperately searching for his first win in the Premiership, while Roy Hodgson will still be flying high after their 1-0 victory over Everton last week. Newcastle will take heart from the fact that Fulham have not won in 31 games on the road.

Newcastle must take some heart from the fact that Sam Allardyce guided Newcastle to victory in the Premiership at Craven Cottage earlier in the season.

Hodgson warns of complacency.

Teams

Shay Given is still out which means that Steve Harper will continue to deputise. The likes of James Milner, Emre and Stephen Carr are all out on long term but Damien Duff, Alan Smith and Charles N'Zogbia looks set to feature after being left out against Birmingham.

Fulham will be missing Jari Litmanen and Phillipe Cristanval, but Alexei Smertin should continue in midfield for the visitors.

Squads

Newcastle (from): Harper, Forster, Beye, Enrique, Taylor, Faye, Cacapa, Edgar, Butt, N'Zogbia, Duff, Barton, Geremi, Owen, Smith, Martins, Viduka, Carroll.

Fulham (from): Keller, Konchesky, Johnson, Stalteri, Hughes, McBride, Bullard, Davies, Andreasen, Murphy, Hangeland, Batista, Volz, Healy, Bocanegra, Dempsey.

Hodgson: we can do it

"We know it's going to be a tough game but we've got ourselves in a tough position so unfortunately every game is a tough game.

"We can look at it and say 'it's a difficult task in a cauldron and it's going to be hard for us' or we can also look at is as a great opportunity - a great chance to break our away hoodoo.

"I think there's a lot of experience in our team and that counts in these matches."
