Everton leading the race to sign Arsenal striker?
Everton have reportedly emerged as the front-runners to secure the signature of Danny Welbeck when his Arsenal contract expires this summer.
The England international has been with the Gunners for the past five years but he has struggled with multiple long-term injury concerns which have reduced his gametime.
As such, the Gunners have opted against offering him a contract extension beyond the summer but it appears that he could remain in the Premier League next season.
According to Evening Standard, a number of English top-flight sides are in the running to sign the marksman but the Toffees are said to hold the advantage in the player's pursuit.
Furthermore, it is added that the Merseyside outfit are prepared to reward the forward with a pay rise despite the fact that he has not featured for the Gunners since November with a broken ankle.
Welbeck has recently returned to full training with the Gunners ahead of the Europa League final and manager Unai Emery has suggested that the forward has a chance of making the bench for the game in Baku.
