Chelsea are prepared to wait for the recruitment of a new manager before deciding on the future of defender Kurt Zouma.

The Frenchman has not featured for the Blues since the 2016/17 season and he has spent the past two campaigns on loan with Stoke City and Everton respectively.

According to The Star, the Blues are not looking at the prospect of sanctioning Zouma's sale, given they are currently under a transfer embargo for the next 12 months.

The same outlet claims that the club's stance could change depending on the response from the new head coach, who is expected to be appointed in the forthcoming days.

Chelsea are expected to part ways with skipper Gary Cahill when his contract expires at the end of the month and Zouma may potentially slot into the fourth centre-back role behind Antonio Rudiger, David Luiz and Andreas Christensen.

Among that trio, Rudiger is expected to be ruled out for the opening phase of next season with a knee injury and that may further increase the importance of keeping Zouma at the Bridge.
