Arsenal made approach for West Ham United defender
Arsenal are understood to have made an enquiry to sign West Ham United defender Issa Diop during the ongoing summer transfer window.
The Gunners have already pursued one central defender in William Saliba from Saint-Etienne, but he has been loaned back to the Ligue 1 side for the campaign.
As such, they have been fancied to land another centre-back before the transfer deadline and The Mirror claims that Diop was previously considered to fill the slot.
The Gunners are understood to have enquired over the availability of Diop last month but they decided against making a formal bid after being put off by the Hammers' £65m valuation.
Manager Unai Emery has recently acknowledged that the club are looking to add another central defender into their ranks with Laurent Koscielny determined to part ways with the club.
Of late, Juventus' Daniele Rugani has been tipped to join the Gunners on a two-year loan but the club have yet to make a formal approach for the Italy international.
