Frank Lampard confirms double injury blow for Chelsea ahead of Lille clash
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that both Olivier Giroud and Fikayo Tomori will be unavailable for tonight's Champions League group stage clash against Lille.
Giroud was absent for the recent game against Everton with an unmentioned injury and Lampard has stated that the striker will continue to remain on the sidelines.
Alongside the Frenchman, Tomori missed training on Monday morning and Lampard has revealed that the centre-back is struggling with a hip problem which will keep him out of the midweek clash.
"He’s got a tiny strain around his hip area, and it’s been bothering him for a little bit, so he’s taken out of it for a few days," he was quoted as saying by Chelsea's official website.
The Blues produced a poor defensive performance with Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma at the heart of the backline against Everton but the former appears likely to be replaced.
Antonio Rudiger has been deemed match fit after nearly three months following a pelvic concern and the German appears set to partner Zouma in the central defence to face Lille.
