Predicted Manchester United XI vs Manchester City

Manchester United are set to face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium for the second leg of their League Cup semi-final tonight.

The Red Devils are behind by a 3-1 score after the opening leg at Old Trafford and they need to bag two more goals than the Cityzens at the Etihad to at least enforce a penalty shootout.

Predicted Lineup:

David de Gea is expected to return in goal. The Spaniard was the goalkeeper for the first leg of the League Cup semi-final and he should get the nod for the Manchester derby once again.

In the defence, Aaron Wan-Bissaka will definitely return on the right side of the backline. Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire are automatic picks at the heart of the defence whilst Luke Shaw may be handed with the left-back spot ahead of Brandon Williams.

In the centre of the park, Andreas Pereira and Fred are the likely candidates to start. Nemanja Matic is doubtful for the derby with an injury picked up at Tranmere while Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay are unavailable for the next five weeks due to their respective injury concerns.

Further forward, Daniel James and Mason Greenwood should slot into the wide attacking positions with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer likely to bank on the pace on the counter-attack. Juan Mata may get the nod over Jesse Lingard in the number 10 spot, given he has been in relatively fine form in recent weeks and has come up with key goalscoring contributions.

Anthony Martial will definitely start as the lone striker upfront with Marcus Rashford not expected to return anytime soon after a double stress fracture in his back.
