Man Utd target James Maddison set for contract extension with Leicester
Manchester United have reportedly suffered a setback in the pursuit of James Maddison as a report from the Telegraph suggests that he is set for a contract extension with Leicester City.
The report also states that English midfielder’s representatives are in advanced talks with the Foxes over a contract extension as his current deal expires in 2023.
United turn out to be one of the potential suitors for the 23-year-old after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer identified him as the priority for summer. The Foxes playmaker is rated around £80m.
Maddison has been in fine touch this season, racking up 6 goals and 3 assists in the Premier League so far and also helping the Foxes to jump to third on the table.
The Red Devils are also said to be monitoring the progress of Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish, who is also enjoying a great season like Maddison.
United concluded their transfer window with the acquisition of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting CP followed by Odion Ighalo.
The Portuguese midfielder was impressive in his Premier League debut against Wolves despite the goalless stalemate.
