Sokratis open to Arsenal exit?

Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos has hinted that he could head through the exit door this summer, suppose he is not guaranteed with regular first-team football.

The Greek was a regular alongside David Luiz at the heart of the defence during the first half of the season but things have changed since the turn of the year with Shkodran Mustafi replacing him.

As a result, Sokratis has been restricted to appearances in the Cup competitions where he has featured as the right-back and this has led to question marks regarding his future.

In a report covered by Goal.com, Sokratis said that he has one more year remaining on his existing deal but may push for a departure, suppose he does not have the assurance of regular gametime next term.

"I have one more year here but me, I never sit on my contract. For me the money is not important, it is important I feel good, I feel happy and the team is happy with me. If not, I take the road and I finish," he told.

Arsenal progressed to the quarter-final stage of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win over Portsmouth on the road last night. They are scheduled to face West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday.
