Wolves plot £71m move for Real Madrid outcast
Wolves are reportedly planning a shock summer move for Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez.
The Colombian has been deprived of game time since returning to the Bernabeu from his loan spell at Bayern.
According to The Sun, Wolves are looking to sign Rodriguez for £71m, the fee Real paid for his transfer from Monaco in 2014.
The 28-year-old had been widely speculated to seek out a new club last summer as Atletico Madrid and Napoli looked the possible destinations.
The transfer saga continued for the winter transfer exchange, with Everton and Arsenal expressing their interest in the Colombian.
Alongside Gareth Bale, Rodriguez is another player who has long been played down by the Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane.
Furthermore, the emergence of Uruguyan prospect Federico Valverde and injuries have added to the Colombian’s woes.
Wolves are keen on strengthening their squad in the summer transfer window as they have set their sights on Champions League football.
The Molineux outfit has its fair share of attackers at the moment – including new signing Daniel Podence – and are linked with Hirving Lozano and Salzburg forward Hwang Hee-Chan ahead of next season.
