Barcelona identify Arsenal star as alternative target
Spanish champions Barcelona have reportedly identified Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the alternative target, should they fail to sign Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan this summer.
The Blaugrana are expected to sign a new marksman in the summer amid concerns over the fitness of Luis Suarez, who has been struggling with persistent knee problems.
A report earlier this month claimed that the Blaugrana had ended their interest in Aubameyang and they will focus on landing the services of Martinez from the Nerazzurri.
However, Spanish publication Sport claims that the club are still holding an interest in Aubameyang and they could make an approach, in case they fail in their attempt to sign Martinez.
Aubameyang has regularly stated that he is committed to the north London side but he has yet to commit to a new long-term deal to end the speculation over his future.
Aubameyang has less than 16 months remaining on his contract and the Gunners board are likely to consider his sale this summer unless he puts pen-to-paper on a new contract.
