Newcastle United planning £60m bid for ex-Arsenal target
Newcastle United are reportedly planning a surprise bid to sign Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha during the summer transfer window.
Zaha was heavily linked with a £80m move to Arsenal last summer but a deal failed to materialise as the Gunners were reluctant to meet the asking price.
Everton were thereafter fancied to sign him before the summer transfer deadline but the Eagles decided against the deal with the lack of time to pursue a replacement.
Zaha has since had an average season with a tally of just three goals and three assists in the Premier League but he is still highly regarded by a number of clubs.
According to The Mail, the south London outfit are likely to demand at least £60m for Zaha this summer despite the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
The same outlet claims that the Magpies could be prepared to meet the valuation for the winger, suppose their proposed takeover from PCP Capital Partners is complete.
Zaha may not be tempted by the move due to the lack of European football but the Magpies are hoping to convince him with the high-profile appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as the new manager.
