Chelsea identify their top defensive target
Chelsea have identified Atalanta wing-back Robin Gosens as their top defensive target for the summer transfer window.
The Blues have already strengthened their attacking department with the signings of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech and they have been tipped to secure the services of Kai Havertz in the coming days.
The club are thereafter expected to shift their focus to bolstering the backline and Gosens has been earmarked as the prime target for manager Frank Lampard.
The Blues boss is likely to deploy a 3-4-3 formation next term and Gosens has been identified as the preferred choice for the left wing-back position, where he has excelled for Atalanta this term.
The German-born ace has been one of Atalanta's leading performers this season and he has contributed nine goals and eight assists in the Italian top-flight alone.
He is likely to be available for a fee of around £26m and that makes him a cheaper option than the Blues' former target in Ben Chilwell, who is valued at more than £70m by Leicester City.
