Man City win race to sign Nathan Ake
Man City have completed a deal to sign Dutch centre-back Nathan Ake from Bournemouth today, a deal that is sure to delight manager Pep Guardiola. Ake arrives at the Cherries after the club were relegated to the Championship on the last day of the Premier League season.
Ake, formerly of Chelsea, has been one of the most impressive defenders in recent campaigns and it was only a matter of time until he sealed a move to one of the Premier League's top clubs.
The player has moved to City in a £41 million transfer move having persuaded his club to let him leave with just two years remaining on his Bournemouth contract.
It is expected that next year City will line up with Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake at the heart of their defence, with Nicolas Otamendi likely to leave for La Liga in the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old becomes City's first transfer in of the summer, having let Leroy Sane leave for Bayern Munich last week.
Ake has signed a four year contract at the Etihad Stadium.
