Frank Lampard provides fresh injury update on Christian Pulisic
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that Christian Pulisic could miss the start of next season after the hamstring injury suffered in the FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal.
The USA international has suffered a couple of injury setbacks during his debut season, but he has still impressed with 11 goals and 10 assists across all competitions.
Speaking in a press conference, Lampard revealed that Pulisic will miss around six weeks because of the hamstring issue and that could keep him out for the first few games of the 2020/21 season.
He added that he won't rush the forward's return to the playing field and the focus will be on getting him back to his best condition, the 42-year-old told:
"It’s going to be touch and go for the start of the season. Six weeks probably gets into the start of the season, but we have to treat the injury right."
We’ll get him fit and get him ready. If he misses the first one or two games, we’ll have a firing Christian and hopefully as hungry as he looked after restart."
Apart from Pulisic, Chelsea will be without Cesar Azpilicueta, Pedro, Willian and Billy Gilmour due to injuries while Jorginho and Marcos Alonso are suspended for the Bayern clash.
Hence, the game could offer the opportunity for the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ross Barkley, but they have a huge task to overcome the 3-0 deficit from the first leg.
Lampard has received a welcome boost with N'Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek fit and both of them could make the starting lineup on Saturday night.
