Chelsea complete fifth major signing of the summer
Chelsea have completed yet another summer signing with Thiago Silva joining them on a free transfer.
The Brazil international spent the past eight years with Paris Saint-Germain where he won 23 domestic honours including seven Ligue 1 titles.
He has now made the switch to the west London giants after deciding against a contract extension at Parc des Princes.
According to The Blues' official website, the 35-year-old has signed a one-year contract with the option for a further 12 months.
"I am so happy to be joining Chelsea. I am delighted to be a part of Frank Lampard’s exciting squad for next season and I’m here to challenge for honours," he told the club's official website.
Silva becomes the Blues' fifth major signing of the summer transfer window after Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell and Malang Sarr.
They have also landed the signature of Xavier Mbuyamba, but the centre-back is expected to feature for the development squad.
The Blues are now expected to announce the signing of Kai Havertz after agreeing an initial fee of £72m with Bayer Leverkusen.
