Chelsea agree deal for 28-year-old shot-stopper
Chelsea have reportedly reached an agreement to sign goalkeeper Edouard Mendy from Rennes.
The west London side have been in constant negotiations for the shot-stopper over the past few weeks and it appears that they have eventually sealed the deal.
Frank Lampard's side failed with an initial bid of around £15m earlier this month, but they have since come up with a renewed transfer offer for the 28-year-old which has been accepted, as per Fabrizio Romano.
Mendy is set to become the club's seventh major signing of the summer transfer window after the arrivals of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr, Thiago Silva and Kai Havertz.
He is expected to join the Blues in the next 24 hours, and he may have to go through the 14-day quarantine process before joining his new teammates for first-team training.
Willy Caballero was preferred ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga during the final three games of the previous campaign. It will be interesting to see who starts in goal against Brighton & Hove Albion in the curtain-raiser.
