Chelsea can win the Champions League - Julen Lopetegui

Sevilla manager Julen Lopetegui has said that Chelsea could be one of the favourites to lift the Champions League title this season.

The Blues spent more than £220m on seven major signings this summer, but they have still made a mixed start to the current campaign.

Frank Lampard's side have picked up just eight points from their opening five games, but there have been positives with the new players settling in.

The likes of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz have impressed in front of goal while Ben Chilwell has made a huge impression from the left-back spot.

Speaking ahead of the midweek Champions League clash, Lopetegui was full of praise for the Blues, whom Sevilla are scheduled to face.

He added that his team have a difficult challenge on their hands against a team, who could go on to win the Champions League.

"We are up against one of the teams that could win the title, in Chelsea, but we want to focus on performing well tomorrow – that's all we can do," He told. 

"I think it's going to be a tough ask. Every match is difficult, but especially in the Champions League against a team like Chelsea."

Chelsea recently went two goals ahead against Southampton in the Premier League, but they ended the game in a disappointing fashion with a 3-3 draw.

Their defensive organisation has been a concern despite the summer spending and it remains to be seen whether Lampard can find a quick fix.
