Liverpool not planning to sign new centre-back?

Klopp satisfied with central defensive options

Liverpool have no plans of signing a central defender when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.

The Reds have experienced a tough start to the season on the injury front and they have multiple absentees from the first-team squad.

Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, who have been the preferred centre-back pairing are out for the long-term with knee injuries, but it appears that Jurgen Klopp won't look to fill the void in January.

According to The Athletic, Klopp is satisfied with the options at hand and he is prepared to keep his faith on the likes of Nathaniel Phillips and Rhy Williams for the season.

Joel Matip is likely to be accompanied by Fabinho in the central defence later this month, but there are genuine concerns over the former's fitness over an extended period of time.

James Milner and Andrew Robertson are other options, who can act as cover in the position and Klopp seems content to stick with the current crop of players rather than entering the transfer market mid-season.
