Liverpool offered chance to sign Garay

Liverpool have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Argentine defender Ezequiel Garay, who is currently a free-agent.

The Reds have suffered multiple injuries this term and they are expected to be without first-choice centre-backs Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez for most of the season.

In their absence, Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips have stepped up to the first-team while midfielder Fabinho has played in a makeshift role alongside Joel Matip of late.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds have been offered the services of Garay, who was previously contracted to Valencia earlier this year.

However, the Premier League holders have not responded to the proposal and they are prepared to take their time in making a decision.

Jurgen Klopp is hopeful of Van Dijk making a quick comeback from a knee surgery and based on that, the club may consider their options.

They are unlikely to sign any new centre-back until January despite the fact that they have a congested schedule next month.
